The Backwoods Vacation Play-set is a toy set for the rural kids, something that’s more familiar than sports cars and speed boats.
From the start, the goal was to make an all wooden, hand-made toy set for children ages 3-5. The toys for these age groups are unique, enough shape and movement for familiarity to the world but also simple enough to stimulate imagination and creation.
Looking around at would be competitors, I didn’t see any type of RV or boat that I’m used to seeing around the lake that I usually go to so that was the path I decided to take.
Right away, I went to foam and started to work out the proportions and scale of the models, once the models were locked in, on to the final material, wood.
The final model is 100% pine, hand-made and includes two small characters to ride along. The pontoon boat slides on and off the detachable trailer so you can pull up to a spot, unhook the trailer and take the pontoon for an easy cruise on the water.
