Fishing Lure by Kip Ripler
The Kip Ripler Shad crank-bait is a multi-use bait that allows an angler to switch out the back half of the lure based on the desired action in the water. While changing the action the lure will present to the fish, the diving lip on the front of the lure has the ability to swivel and lock into three different positions, changing the diving depth of the lure into three distinct positions.
The goal is to keep your line in the water, a good portion of time fishing is spent trying things out, whether it be new colors or different action and in most cases, you have to attach and detach lures every time. Kip Ripler’s Shad allows an angler change the action of the bait without going into the tackle box. The bait allows you to adjust the depth that the bait will travel under the surface without tying something different on the line, saving time and hopefully, allowing the angler to catch more fish!
The lure overall is around 4”-5” long with currently, four different tail attachments; Standard, Boot Tail, Curl Tail, and Skirt as seen below. After a couple quick sketches to confirm concept, I went straight to the lab and started modeling.
After a color study, you can see how the patterns would lend themselves to the different tail options the angler would have using this lure.
Colors and modeling was all finished, on to printing and prototypes…
